Conventional laser scanning method
A one-dimensional laser scan micrometer was indexed across the part using a stage or servo. However, accuracy was limited by the precision of the mechanical movement required to obtain 2D data.
TM-3000 Series
The TM Series is a two-dimensional system which does not require scanning. Just placing a target within the measurement range allows multi-point inspection, achieving both improved accuracy and shorter tact time.

Conventional inspection method
A sample was removed from the tester and measured with a digital caliper at regular intervals. It took some time to perform the evaluation and data was unreliable due to fixture variation.
TM-3000 Series
With the TM Series, you can see the deformation while applying force, and you can perform an evaluation without removing the sample from the tester.

Positioning

Conventional inspection method
Traditionally, a camera based system was used to control blade position. However, if the relative camera, backlight, or cutter position changed, mechanical adjustments were necessary to maintain accuracy.
TM-3000 Series
The TM Series's optical system is designed to optimize stability. It's wide measuring range allows for quick and easy adjustment, which reduces the man-hours required for maintaining the instrument.

Conventional laser scanning method
A pair of laser scan micrometers were used for monitoring the roller and web respectively, which required significant man-hours for installation and adjustment.
TM-3000 Series
The TM Series enables simultaneous monitoring of the roller and web with a single head, ensuring no errors due to installation or alignment drift. Product quality and measurement system reliability can be improved simultaneously.

Multi-point runout (TIR) measurement

To measure runout multiple points, the conventional laser scan micrometer required (rotation time) x (No. of points) plus the time required to move to each point.
TM-3000 Series
With the TM Series, you can simply select the desired measurement points from 2D data without the need for sensor positioning.
Runout measurement at multiple points can be perfectly synchronized and measured simultaneously, improving process time significantly.
