What are your job responsibilities?

My job responsibilities are to connect with people in many different industries, learn about their business, tell them about our business and, specifically for me, show them our IM system. Together we will go through applications they need solved and how I can help solve them. Once we agree on a solution, we work through the sales process. Once they implement a system, I am able to personally support them.

How did you learn the technical skills at KEYENCE?

When I began the interview process for KEYENCE, I thought that I didn’t stand a chance in landing this job due to what I chose to study in college. I took the business and communications route during my 4 years at Santa Clara University and had zero courses in the engineering or tech-related fields. Looking back, I don’t think that taking the path I did in college hindered my ability to learn and adapt to a technical field. KEYENCE provides you with a well-organized and intensive training program immediately upon hiring to make sure you are well prepared when you fully jump into the field. I truly think that one of the best aspects of KEYENCE is that you will never find someone who won’t want to help you with any questions that you have. So, once your training period is over, you will have more than enough people eager to help you succeed!

What do you enjoy about your career and your position?

One thing I love about being a Sales Engineer is that it allows you to be widely exposed to multiple industries. You will interact with business owners, engineers, etc. every single day, and no two businesses are the same. You will meet with people in fields ranging from aerospace to medical and everything in between. The life experiences and career development that come from being a Sales Engineer are second to none.

Additionally, I love that being a Sales Engineer forces you to act as a sponge. You will be challenged every day to learn something new or adapt to a new situation. I love this about my career because I am always learning more every single day, and that never goes unnoticed. Whether I am chatting with my boss about the ins and outs of different industries, or learning a new technical tool, I love that each day I leave with a little bit more insight.

What do you like about KEYENCE?

There are a ton of reasons that I love being a part of KEYENCE.
