Claim Capital

The prices just made a lot more sense and seemed more fair.
RK would be the best RPA tool for Claim Capital.
As Claim Capital began to expand their customer base, the team realized it would be impossible to maintain pace with the volume of appeals and payments to process as their business scaled up. We had the opportunity to sit down with Spencer Dunlap, the Director of Client Operations at Claim Capital, about the benefits of using RK, his experience with the tool, and his journey to selecting the best RPA tool for his organization.
Claim Capital
Claim Capital was founded in 2020 after a group of employees at a leading EHR (Electronic Health Record) company recognized that there was a large issue in the healthcare industry - managing claims denials and underpayments. Though there are copious amounts of data backing this, the reality is there is not much action being taken to resolve the issue. Since then, they have developed their own AI-powered analytics platform, called CARMA, to help healthcare organizations recoup lost profits from underpayments and denied claims.
Choosing the Right RPA Tool
Having previously worked for a software company, Spencer and the Claim Capital team always had RPA technology in the back of their minds as something they would eventually need for scaling their business and staying competitive. As Claim Capital settled into the flow of their business, Spencer began to investigate what RPA tool would be the best for them.
As Spencer explored his options for adopting RPA, he quickly realized this technology was not quite as accessible as he would’ve liked. He attended demos for several RPA vendors in the market but continuously ran into the same issues: exorbitant start-up fees, maintenance fees, consulting fees, all on top of a confusing licensing model.
Questions started to come up about what the final cost would be, and Spencer discovered that not only would he be charged for every aspect of deployment, but he would be charged based on his usage of the RPA tool itself as well. Some vendors would charge him per user, some would charge him per workflow, and some would charge for both. No matter where Spencer looked, it seemed like RPA deployment would end up costing tens of thousands of dollars per year, rising more and more if their usage increased. After speaking with several RPA vendors, the technology started to feel increasingly out of reach for Claim Capital.
“The prices just made a lot more sense and seemed more fair.”
It was at this point that Spencer discovered KEYENCE and our RPA tool, RK. He attended a demonstration of our product expecting more of the same but was swiftly proven wrong. When we asked Spencer about his first experience meeting with us, he said, “The prices just made a lot more sense and seemed more fair.” He told us he greatly appreciated the transparency on what our product was capable of and what it would cost, as well as the fact that there was no upfront “start-up” fee or implementation fee – you only pay for the license. This experience was the breath of fresh air Spencer had been waiting for, and it quickly became clear that RK would be the best RPA tool for Claim Capital.
Practical Automation with RK
After Spencer was finally able to get his hands on an effective RPA tool, he immediately got to work building a scenario to automate the workflows of Claim Capital’s healthcare customers in order to increase their bottom line. These processes are directly linked to the profits of Claim Capital as well as their customers, so Spencer hoped RK could help them recover more lost revenue than ever before.
By working with his Customer Success representative, he was able to learn how to build scenarios within RK on his own while actively working towards his goal of achieving a fully automated process. With the help of the support from KEYENCE, he was able to achieve this goal within one month of using RK. The support Spencer received then enabled him to start building other scenarios to automate other tasks around Claim Capital. This included extensions of the original workflows in order to complete the full loop of the system.
While the process had previously taken only about three minutes for an employee to complete manually, the process was required to be done between 100 to 200 times per day. With the technical acumen of the employees at Claim Capital, it didn’t make sense to have an employee spending entire days working through this process; by automating this task, they have been able to not only increase the volume of work to increase their revenue, but their employees are now free to investigate new business opportunities and work with existing customers to discover more underpaid claims to process.
Building a Reputation of Efficiency
Claim Capital follows a consulting business model, so the relationships they build with their clientele are extremely important for retaining business and establishing a good reputation as a company. By adopting RK, they have been able to increase the profits not only for themselves but for their customers as well by making their processes more efficient than ever before. This reputation for efficiency will not only help keep their business successful but also encourage other companies in the healthcare space to turn to them to help recover lost revenue.
After seeing success in the initial process, Claim Capital is now looking to expand their usage of RK in numerous ways. Each of their customers interact with various web portals based on different healthcare payers, so Spencer is starting to work to expand their automated workflows in each payer portal to further recoup lost revenue for his customers.
Outside of this work, Spencer is continuously looking for new areas to implement RK automation within Claim Capital. He has already identified some other tasks that could be automated within various customer web portals, and thanks to the support he received from the KEYENCE Customer Success team he knows exactly how to build these processes on his own. His goal is to continue to expand the usage and consumption of RK both within Claim Capital as well as for their customers, and he is optimistic that the use of RK will continue to increase business for Claim Capital thanks to the continued support of KEYENCE.
