What are your job responsibilities?

I began my career with KEYENCE in sales out of our Chicago office. My current position is on our corporate Machine Vision team. My role ranges from strategic marketing to sales development. My main focus is handling the sales training for our new hires, and traveling with them in the field to further develop their skills.

What was your background coming into Keyence and how did you learn the tech or sales skills?

Coming from a business background, my technical skills were limited to curiosity about new technology. I spent six weeks in our technical training program in the Chicago Headquarters to learn the ins and outs of the hardware and software. While studying all the bells and whistles of the system is great, learning by doing is what has ultimately led to my success. You may fall on your face the first couple of times in front of a customer on a tough application, but learning from it is key!

What do you like about your career/position?

Getting to develop new salespeople is something I am extremely passionate about. Seeing new hires succeed is something that will never get old.

What do you like about KEYENCE?

We regularly release new products and updates. I love working for a company that is never satisfied and is constantly developing new and better technology. The best part about working at KEYENCE is the people. I get to work with people from all different backgrounds and skillsets that force me to get better each day.

Any message you would share to prospective applicants?

Don’t be afraid to ask questions. The automation industry is changing every day: new products, new competition, new ways of thinking. If you do not ask, you will never learn! If you are open to the challenge and learn from your experiences, you will see your hard work pay off.
