We measured the width of flat wires by using KEYENCE's laser scan micrometer (LS-3000 Series). The company released the LS-9000 and introduced the new product to us. When we tried it, we could improve the variation in the measured values and we decided the replacement.

The LS-9000 Series is characterized by the ability of 16000 samplings per second, which is the fastest in its class. The variation in measured values was caused by minute vibration of the flat wire during transfer. The high-speed exposure ensures clear image capture unaffected by the vibration and allows accurate measurement.

We were considering a contact-type displacement sensor for the width measurement of foam boards. Since the target such as foam boards had soft surfaces and deformed easily, accurate measurement was difficult.
Using a non-contact laser displacement sensor allowed us to measure even boards with soft surfaces.
