On high-speed conveyor lines in logistics warehouses and manufacturing plants, reading errors of barcodes and 2D codes on cardboard boxes are a major cause of decreased productivity. Stable reading is particularly challenging when multiple codes are present or on high-speed lines.
A solution utilizing KEYENCE's ST Series scan tunnel system is effective for this challenge. The ST Series combines an ultra-wide field of view with long-range reading performance, covering the entire width of the conveyor with a single unit. It instantly reads multiple codes printed on fast-moving cardboard boxes all at once.
In this application, image data of all codes read by the ST Series is automatically saved and can be easily analyzed on a PC. In the event of a reading error (NG), the cause, such as faded print or a peeled label, can be quickly identified from the saved image, and countermeasures can be taken immediately. Since images of OK products can also be stored, it helps build reliable traceability and strengthen the quality control system. This strongly promotes the automation of incoming/outgoing inspections and sorting operations, achieving operational efficiency in logistics sites."
