In the manufacturing process of Universal Quick Disconnects (UQDs), helium leak testing is an essential quality control item to ensure product airtightness. A reliable code tracking system is required to accurately link this critical inspection data to individual products and establish traceability.
However, 2D codes directly marked (DPM) on metal parts like the UQD body have been challenging for conventional code readers to read stably due to specular reflection characteristic of the material and distortion of the marked surface. Reading errors directly lead to decreased production efficiency and significant quality control risks.
KEYENCE's AI-powered code reader, the SR-X Series, solves this problem. The SR-X Series has a built-in polarizing filter that effectively eliminates strong reflections from metal surfaces. Furthermore, its advanced proprietary reading algorithm instantly corrects for marking distortion, enabling high-speed, stable reading of 2D codes even under conditions previously considered challenging. This technology makes it possible to reliably capture the codes of UQDs moving on a conveyor and link individual products with helium leak test data in real time. The introduction of the SR-X Series contributes significantly to building a reliable traceability system, improving product quality, and preventing defective products from being shipped.
