Cylinder Sensors
Cylinder sensors are used to ensure cylinders reach their extended and retracted positions reliably each cycle. KEYENCE cylinder sensors are the world's first with a bar LED indicator, providing live piston position throughout the length of the stroke. The desired output windows can be set with the simple push of a button and can be easily identified with the large indicators. These devices also utilize top-down installation, eliminating the need to remove the cylinder when installing the sensor.
Product Lineup
The new CS-L from KEYENCE focuses on visibility, easy install, and simple wiring. This is the world’s first linear cylinder sensor with a bar LED. The LED makes it possible to view the live piston position down to a resolution of 1 mm (3.94 mil). This sensor is mounted top-down on the cylinder, eliminating any disassembly to attach, remove, or adjust the sensor. The sensor can also be set via the push of a button as the sensor covers the length of the cylinder's stroke. Cycle time and downtime can now be reduced with impact level and stroke time information being provided from the sensor. Wiring is cut in half by providing 2 outputs from each sensor down a single wire. Loose wires or M8 connectors make integration into any setup easy.
Features
Pneumatic Cylinder Sensor with Visible Indication and Easy Installation
Live Piston Position Visibility
A large indicator light runs the full length of the sensor, delivering instant, real-time visibility of piston position for faster setup and simplified troubleshooting.
The CS-LG is a single linear cylinder sensor that reliably distinguishes between the three critical positions of a gripper’s stroke: Opened, Gripped, and Closed. This sensor continuously monitors piston movement with an impressive 0.01 mm (0.0004″) resolution. Installing the CS-LG is done from above, directly into the groove of the cylinder and is flush once secured. By using this one sensor instead of the conventional two, installation time, wiring, and the number of parts are all significantly reduced.
Features
3 Output Positions Regardless of Gripper Size
This sensor provides linear position sensing with an impressive 0.01mm (0.0004″) resolution, continuously monitoring piston movement with exceptional accuracy. Even within the gripper’s short stroke, the sensor reliably distinguishes between the three critical positions: Opened, Gripped, and Closed. With a single sensor, the system can detect a variety of mis-grip conditions, including missing, misplaced, or improperly handled workpieces, helping improve process reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance overall production quality.

Reduced Wiring
The CS-LG provides an output for each cylinder position with only one cable. This reduces the necessary cables by at least half, and cuts down on set-up time, parts required, and overall installation.
