Batch reading of battery modules in the logistics process

Traceability management in logistics processes and on manufacturing lines is key to quality assurance and productivity improvement. Especially in environments that handle numerous products in pallet or tray units, such as EV (electric vehicle) battery modules, it is required to read individual 2D codes quickly and accurately. However, scanning one by one is time-consuming, and rework due to reading errors can significantly reduce production efficiency.

The bulk reading solution with the KEYENCE logistics code reader, SR-5000 Series, solves this challenge. As shown in the image, it works in conjunction with an industrial robot to read the codes of multiple battery modules arranged on a tray on a conveyor at once. The SR-5000 Series combines an ultra-wide field of view with long-range reading performance, allowing it to instantly capture numerous codes placed over a wide area. This enables simple automation with a single unit for processes that previously required multiple readers or complex mechanisms.

It can track fast-moving workpieces and achieve stable reading even for challenging codes, significantly streamlining sorting operations in distribution centers and process management on production lines. It greatly contributes to reducing human error and strengthening traceability, accelerating the transition to smart factories.
