In DPM (direct part marking) on metal parts such as shafts in manufacturing sites, it is not uncommon for a part of a 2D code like a DataMatrix to be obscured due to printing location constraints or equipment structure, resulting in reading errors. Such "print obstruction" is a serious issue that directly leads to production line stoppages and a loss of traceability.
KEYENCE's SR-X Series AI-powered code reader is equipped with a "Link Decode Function" that solves this problem. This function complements and reads cell information from codes that were successfully read by other specified readers on the same network. This achieves stable reading even under adverse conditions where reading was previously given up on. It greatly contributes to stricter quality control and improved productivity in FA environments. It also demonstrates high performance for low-contrast, hard-to-read codes, such as those laser-engraved on metal, supporting reliable data reading in all situations.
