Batch scanning of labels on chip reels

Improving the efficiency of chip reel management tasks on electronic component mounting lines and in parts warehouses is a critical issue. In particular, scanning each reel one by one with a handheld computer during reel changes for parts verification or during inventory checks requires a lot of man-hours and carries the risk of incorrect loading due to human error.

This challenge is solved by batch reading of chip reel labels using a fixed-mount code reader. By utilizing the KEYENCE SR-5000 Series logistics code reader, it is possible to instantly read all barcodes, QR codes, and DataMatrix codes of multiple reels stored on a shelf in a single scan without moving them. The SR-5000 Series, with its overwhelmingly wide field of view and long-range performance, reliably captures a large number of codes placed over a wide area. This significantly reduces the work time required for receiving/shipping management and inventory checks, and lessens the burden on workers.

Furthermore, by linking the read data with the system, accurate inventory management and real-time traceability are achieved, preventing incorrect parts from being loaded and contributing to improved production quality. This automation solution is essential for improving productivity in the SMT process.
