When transporting pallets with a forklift, scanning barcodes on containers and returnable boxes one by one with a handheld computer is time-consuming and often becomes a bottleneck. It also requires stopping the forklift for each scan, which carries the risk of reading errors and recording omissions due to human error.
These challenges can be solved with 'bulk reading' using a fixed-mount code reader. By installing KEYENCE's SR-5000 Series logistics code reader in an aisle or at a gate, QR codes and barcodes on containers stacked in multiple layers on a pallet can be read instantly as the forklift passes through the area. The SR-5000 Series combines an overwhelmingly wide field of view that can cover a large area with a single unit and high reading performance that can track fast-moving objects. This enables accurate data collection without stopping the forklift, dramatically reducing takt time for incoming/outgoing inspections and inter-process transport.
This automation solution not only reduces operator workload and contributes to labor savings but also ensures accurate inventory management and enhanced traceability. It strongly supports productivity improvements and DX promotion in logistics warehouses and manufacturing sites.
