5-sided reading and dimension measurement system

In the automation of logistics warehouses and production lines, reading barcodes on items moving along a conveyor is an essential process. However, reading errors due to inconsistent item orientation and manual dimension measurement are major obstacles to improving operational efficiency. This application is a '5-sided reading and dimensioning set' that solves these challenges simultaneously.

By combining multiple units of KEYENCE's ST Series scan tunnel system, the top and four sides of an item—a total of five sides—are scanned at once. This eliminates the need to align the items on the conveyor and achieves an extremely high reading rate even on high-speed lines. Furthermore, by linking with a dimensioning sensor, the length, width, and height of the item are measured instantly along with the barcode information. This enables automatic acquisition of volume data, contributing to improved sorting accuracy, automated freight calculation, and enhanced traceability.

The ST Series' features of a wide field of view and long focal distance allow a wide area to be covered with fewer units, enabling a space-saving and simple system configuration. This is a solution that accelerates logistics DX and dramatically increases on-site productivity.
